2006 Charity Recipient:
The Myrtle Evertt Woman of the Year banquet is also the main fundraiser for the Business & Professional Women's Club of Abbotsford/Mission.
Every year the Myrtle Evertt Woman of the Year Committee selects a charity to receive the raised funds.
This year we will be donating the remaining proceeds of this event to the Bridging the Gap Program towards the purchase of a kitchen stove for their breakfast club program. Bridging the Gap provides aid to disadvantaged women helping them enrich and move forward in their lives.
We Appreciate the Support of our Raffle, a special basket of Mexican Delights:
This year the BPW of Abbotsford/Mission is participating in the Five-0 Project in La Paz, Mexico. A nursing school was established in 1992, with the majority of students coming from poor villages outside La Paz. After graduation they return to their local areas to work as nurses who are in great demand because of the scarcity of health facilities.
Each year 250 students enroll for their three year education. Scholarships are donated by BPW Mexico to students with low economic resources enabling them to become educated.
Our goal is to raise monies for 4 Nursing Scholarships – Annual Scholarship $60 US/Student.
All proceeds from this draw will be used for tuition for women and men attending the La Paz Nursing School.
