The Nomination Process

The process for selection is done with utmost professionalism and fairness; to ensure this, a number of procedures have been put into place.

To be accepted as a candidate for nomination:
•Two individuals must make the nomination and sign a nomination form;
•The nominee, acknowledging her acceptance of the nomination, must also sign the form;
•The nomination package must be completed and submitted to the Nomination Committee.
The Nomination Package Includes:
•Eight questions that are answered individually by the two nominators;
•One question that is answered by the nominee;
•A current resume that is a maximum of two pages;
•Two letters of support (one page total in length from people other then the nominators);
•No cover letter, photos, newspaper articles or other documents of support is required;
•The nominee is required to sign an information release form;
•The total submission of the nomination package does not exceed 20 pages.
Judging

Once the nomination packages have been checked over to ensure that each submission is complete, they are turned over to our judges.  To keep the process fair, we have three non-partisan judges that are from out of town.  Before the judges are accepted, a list of the nominees is presented and if any judge is familiar with a candidate, they must remove themselves from the process.  They then sign an agreement that they will not discuss the contents of the submissions with anyone, including with each other, until after the Awards have been given.

The judges review the submissions, rate them accordingly, and determine the recipients of the Myrtle Evertt Women of the Year Award. There is one recipient from Abbotsford and one recipient from Mission.
